When I first started smoking, it was not out of the ordinary that a pack of cigarettes would cost about $2.00. With the lawsuits that came about in regards to health risks, the cost went up. States have put a cigarette tax on them in order for people to quit. I have smoked the cheap cigarettes, to making my own, and buy the expensive brand. On average now, I pay about $4.50 a pack. I buy them by the carton. My boyfriend and I spend about $300.00 a month on cigarettes alone. One of the arguments that I receive from people is “Just think of the money you would save”. Hospitals are even banning smoking from the properties, however, it is difficult to police the activity because many people will go to their vehicles. With laws that have been passed over the years, the opportunity for quitting is becoming easier. There are so many different incentives out there, that the normal person would think that someone would want to give up the habit.
