Personal Narrative: My Educational Journey

As a youth I faced numerous challenges that resulted in me beginning my educational journey later than expected. Growing up my father, an immigrant from Honduras, sold narcotics out of our home which had a lasting effect on me after he was later deported which also created a slew of issues for me as a youth. As a result of the traumatic experiences that I had witnesses and endured, I dropped out of high school as the stresses of living in such a dangerous environment were too distracting at the time to focus in school. Though my father was deported after I had dropped out of school, I quickly faced an array of issues after he was deported that further hindered me attending school, as I did not have a safe place to sleep, or stay at as our house
