My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

When I grow up, I want to change the world! Changing the world one day would make me feel really good. Three ways I would change the world are: make sure everyone has a shelter to live in; help more lost, sick, and hurt animals, and make sure no one is hungry. I would like to help homeless people have a nice place to stay. When I’m driving downtown I see a lot of homeless people on the streets; dirty, and sad.…

I remember the day when I had the thought that would from that day on never fail to amaze me. I remember walking down Michigan Avenue in Chicago with the smell of Garrett Popcorn and sewage roaming the air. I remember seeing businessmen and business women making their way to work rolling their briefcases down the street. I remember the massive amount of tourists, including myself, stopping every five feet to take pictures of the beautiful sights of the city. I remember thinking to myself, “Why can’t these people learn how to walk in a polite and organized fashion?”…

My life is everchanging, from the decision of whether to go to college, what choices should I take to build my career, to whether or not I believe in certain entities. The best part about this though, is the experience of learning about how the world works, and how everything is always constantly changing. I have only been around for two decades, but I've experienced a lot of change, and feel that nothing is ever constant. I was raised Lutheran, and attended a youth group where I met wonderful friends, connected with leaders, and grew my belief. This was consistant for four years, before change happened.…

One’s values and beliefs about the world we live in are constructed through real life encounters, as well as teachings that they may have experienced though their lives. My personal paradigm is based around my ethical view on life. I adopted a consequentialist view which is also a very controversial because it brings the idea that you could make immoral decisions without consequence, as long as the outcome had benefitted the most people or had the best outcome. For me in most cases, making decisions based on the ethical morality of the means in a situation puts a stop to progress, leads to less desirable outcomes, and demonstrates actions that maybe come of as a very selfish way of making choices. There are people that say…

Imagine a cool, crisp, January morning waking up at my best friend’s house, I found myself tired. Knowing the events I would face today I would have needed a lot more energy than I had. Regretting that I’d stayed up all night, I got a shower then continued to get warm clothes on. As my dad pulled up my friend, Sydney, and I jumped in the car. Heading to the skating rink in Hohenwald, I was excited.…

My personal worldview has shifted a multitude of times over the course of my life, but the largest, most drastic alterations have taken place over the past nine years, from the moment I started to believe in God. One could say that part of my worldview is a belief that a worldview continues to shift as we move through our lives, learning, growing, exploring and asking the deep questions of ourselves and of others. As I reach deeper levels of maturity, authority and capacity in my relationship with Christ, I will also reach deeper levels of understanding about the universe, the world, and its’ occupants. I believe there is one true God who is the creator of all things, including the universe. I am unable to comprehend beyond this, meaning,…

As a full-time student and as someone who works part-time my schedule does not change. I have a routine every week and I have to follow it in order to complete all of my work. My main focus in my life right now is to earn an undergraduate degree and I tend to put work outside of school, and relationships second.
