I have been working there for almost four years. Since working there I have gained and improved upon many skills and also learned about a few skills I could improve on. My strengths include communication and people skills, problem-solving and planning, and leadership.
I have found that I have improved tremendously on communication and people skills. Being a CNA has helped me understand how to best communicate with patients and feel confident in interacting with people I don’t know. I am more confident talking to others one on one rather than in big groups and have strengths in the ability to listen as well as respond. My boss has put me in charge of training new employees and it displays that she is confident in my ability to teach others, am a good role model, and a great CNA. Although leadership is a great trait to have I prefer working alongside my coworkers while leading rather than tell others what to do directly. This skill is beneficial in radiologic technology because we work as a team. It is important to recognize when to step up and be a leader and when to follow. Areas of improvement include combating stress, inability to take criticism well, and trying to please everyone.
Stress management is an area in which I could improve. Since being in college I have learned time management which has helped tremendously but when I feel like too many things are happening at once I tend to shut down. It helps if I am able to make a list of tasks and tackle them one by one. This area could be further improved by immersing myself in stressful situations and learning how to deal with them
