Of these, 70 million are a handgun, which means that it could millions of unauthorized personnel with firearms. This brings me to the fact that one in every 2 households contains a gun. So if there was a neighborhood filled with 100 homeowners at least 50 would contain a handgun or some type of firearm. Thus increasing the risk of an accident or death due the weapon, this is very scary.
Laws should be passed, requiring gun owners to be licensed in the same way car drivers are licensed. Obtaining a license would require a background check, fingerprinting, and passing a firearms training course. Doing this task would greatly decrease the amount of people owing handguns, which of course decreases deaths and accidents. Gun purchases should be limited to one a month. Once you limit the amount of guns purchased consumers will eventually stop trying to get them as much.
Some may view firearms as a way to defend themselves. People say that guns are a way for self defense, however that is not true.
