Imagine being trapped in a cage for years, being fed the same food everyday, without anyone with you and eating the same food everyday. You can’t ! But that's the situation of animals in the zoo.Today I Krish Parekh am going to persuade you all to abolish the concept of zoos.
No one likes living alone on an island with nothing to do or no one to be with, for animals cages in zoos are like islands for humans. They have no one to be with and nothing to do. Surplus animals are killed or sold to dealers or circuses every year and the main reasons for the above acts are given as old age or over population. Culling of animals is very popular in many countries in Europe. One recent example was the killing of a tiger on 8th june 2016 in a zoo in London. The zoo authorities reported that the animal had caught a very unfriendly disease due to which he had been killed, but after a few weeks reports showed that he was killed because of old age. Some animals in zoos are used as a source of entertainment of the visitors, animals like penguins and monkeys are used to make the children coming into zoos happy, when they are performing or doing goofy things it looks like they are very happy but in real life they have been put on anti-depressants to hide their depression and boredom in the zoos. If the zoos aren’t able to catch any type of animal they find a similar looking animal and try to make it look like the animals they don’t have like donkeys are painted in a zoo in Africa to look like zebras and dogs are painted to look like foxes and before you know they are killed or sent to dealers as soon as their colors start fading and the animal is hesitant for a repaint. A large number of animals are sold of to dealers who export these animals to either animal poachers, hunting ranches or unaccredited zoos.Zoos not only mistreat adult animals but also babies, many animal babies are put up in auctions because they lose “ youthful appeal”.
