In 1955 while climbing on a volcano in the Andes an archaeologist found a wrapped bundle in the ice when he turned it over he was in shock to find that he was looking straight into the face of a girl. The freezing temperature had preserved her body for over five hundred years. She was sacrificed to the Inca gods, she was the first of many other children to be discovered on the mountains. It is believed that some parents even offered their own children as sacrifices.
