Many people have heard the words mutual aid in their life at one time or another. Around the world countries and nations offer each other some form of mutual aid. For example, the United States sent mutual aid in the form of medicine and doctors when the Ebola virus broke out in Arica. Mutual aid consists of two different definitions. Mutual aid in reference to organizational theory means “voluntary trades of resources and service that will benefit each party” (Wikipedia). Mutual aid in emergency services service is “An agreement among emergency responders to lend assistance across jurisdictional boundaries” (Mutual aid). They have free unions of men. In the mediaeval city, they teach all the generations about art. The peasants were able to have land and self-jurisdiction. Kropotkin explained how the people accepted the king, but still had someone who would fight and look after their interest. The people realized when the town wall was built they were safe from their enemies, lords, and foreigners. Once the city was won the people elected a military defensor and a judge (DeMeulenaere). In the mediaeval city they had bishops that protected their liberties. The citizens tried to get the nobles to have peace with the town. Milan was known for their trade among the people. Kropotkin compares the mediaeval brotherhood to a captain and his crew on a ship. He talks about how craftsmen that each did different things came together to build a cathedral. In the mediaeval city if a man house is burned everyone must come together to help him. When a person is sick someone has to look over him until he feels better. If a man of the house dies than the brotherhood has to help take care of his children. No argument should turn into a fight or law-suit. If you get into a fight with a stranger the people would still support you no matter if it’s bad or good. The brotherhood would help you flee the city with a horse or boat if someone wanted to get revenge on you. A person would have 12 men follow him around like bodyguards if he decided to stay in town. When a person owed money, the brotherhood would help them pay off their debt. They began to have priest, painters, teachers, and universities (DeMeulenaere). The brotherhood had different alliances. The meals they had been to let you know you were a part of the brotherhood. The mediaeval city was religious and was placed under a saint for each city. They wanted to have justice under a brotherly concept
