The way a person speaks can offend many people. Different types of people can take different situations in a completely separate way than intended. A person in today’s society can say one thing that means a great deal of joy to him, but can still offend the man standing right next to him. Not only can what you say offend people, but also the way the person says it. Different tones trigger different reactions. People in the American lifestyle are too easily offended. In the 1900’s America was the strong force in the world. America is now seen as weak in they eyes of the rest of the world. We as Americans need to be the strong force of resilience. In political situations, political correctness is called for and even wanted. We do not want American representatives going around using foul language and offending everyone, but there is a difference between speaking in a polite tone and speaking politically correct. Political correctness should be used when talking to the media. The media today has a way of transforming what you say into what no one wants to hear you say. A well thought out speech suddenly becomes a hate speech against a certain race. Which is why there is a difference between talking to the media and talking to your buddies. When talking in ordinary conversations, ordinary terms and sayings can be used. People should speak what is really on their minds. The world would be a much better place if instead of worrying all the time on whether you will offend someone, everyone spoke what they really thought. We as the American people would become united if everyone spoke their minds. In this time period, Americans need to unite more than ever. Things are changing quickly. Some changes are for the better and some are for the worse.
