Suicide is a serious problem and many people fail to identify it. Adolescent suicide is the third leading cause of death (Teen Suicide Statistics). Many people refuse to believe that suicide is not a problem when the reality is that it is. Teenage years can be the most challenging and most stressful. Whether it be a F on a final or a terrible break up, a teen’s mind is not fully developed and in some cases these situations could mean the “end” while to others it’s only temporary sadness. The NIMH, National Institute of Mental Health, 1 in 100,000 children ages 10 to 14 die by suicide each year (SAVE). Schools, family, and friends should all work together and help stop this growing problem. This is a rising problem in the world as it kills many people each year. On average, 1 person commits suicide every 16.2 minutes (11 Facts About Suicide). Depression and suicidal thoughts are often overlooked by society and they see it is not a major problem. In some countries mental illness seems to not exist because most kids with mental illnesses are seen as kids who just misbehave. Many times even kids would kill themselves because their parents don’t love them or their parents are fighting. If society can realize that suicide is a major problem then it would be easier to educate children on what happens when one person commits suicide and who is actually affected by it. However, killing oneself and assisted suicide are two different topics. Assisted suicide is when a patient who is on life supports and there is no way of that person living asks the doctor for overdosing drugs or pulling the plug. These patients include people who have a certain amount of time to live, patients with severe brain damage, and patients who have a extremely terrible
