Pros And Cons Of Tuition

Having tuition or no tuition for college has been a debate that has yet to be solved. There are plausible arguments for both sides. While I can see both sides to it, I believe it is best for colleges to have tuition. The pros for tuition far outweigh the pros for free college. One reason why colleges should have tuition is taxes. While free college sounds great on paper, how will it be payed for? That’s right, taxes. Free college means higher taxes. Most families already struggle just to make a living and just hiring taxes will make those families struggle even more. Nothing is free in this world, “free” college is no exception. One of the main reasons why college is not a laughing matter is that the money comes from the students’ and their parents pockets, unless they had gotten a scholarship that covered the whole thing. Students don’t want to fail because even if they drop out, they still have to pay and it would just be a waste of money. Failing college is probably one of the biggest fears for college students. How will they tell their parents that they couldn’t do it? They just put money down the drain. If college were free, you would also have those students who just play around and cause distractions. The quality of learning would go down. It would just be high school all over again. You will have those students who have no business being there sitting in class and ruining others’ learning experience. College is meant to be taken seriously and for those who actually want to succeed in life.
