“‘There must be something in books, things we can’t imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don’t stay for nothing’” (Bradbury 48). That quote is a perfect example of how the theme of Fahrenheit 451 is knowledge. There are many reasons why the theme of Fahrenheit 451 is knowledge. One reason that knowledge is the theme is that books must have some value in the messed up society that is where our main character Guy Montag lives. “‘There must be something in books, things we can’t imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don’t stay for nothing’” (Bradbury 48). This quote supports that knowledge is the theme because there must be something the government is hiding. They can not just ban books for no reason. At this point in the story, Guy is finally coming to the conclusion books have meaning in society.
