Ralph Waldo Emerson's Analysis

Improved Essays
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote that if you don't go beyond what you already mastered, then you will never grow. To grow, us humans need to go beyond normality of what we have mastered and gain new knowledge through going beyond. Mastering one thing is just; one thing. To master life, we have to master more and more by being ambitious and wanting to actually "grow" as a person. It's humans duty and right to keep growing, by going beyond what we already know and succumb to. I agree with Emerson's statement because to grow, you have to go beyond which can help you learn and gain new insights of knowledge, if you don't go beyond then you will be the same person stuck in a nut shell never growing, and the experience of trying to do something beyond …show more content…
If you don't go above what you are already good at, then you'll be the same person forever and that's okay. You can still be the same person by going beyond, but you will be the worst version of yourself. There's always that gut feeling that tells you what to do and what not to do, it's called intuition. Intuition is what guides us through the tunnel of, do I ever want to be more than what I already am, or do I just want to stay the same. It's your decision. Many people tend to be afraid of trying something new, but to grow you have to. There's nothing to fear of going beyond what you mastered. In the end you could be the same or you could be different, but overall you will be the best version of yourself because you will keep growing when you go beyond your old self. The experience of trying something new or going above can take you to new heights and steps in life. By doing more, you could be what you always dreamed of and experience can guide you into growing. Just the experience can help you grow as a person. It could be a new and better job because you mastered your old one. You can be introduced to new heights and more and more steps into what life really is. It's a choice to stay the same or to have the experience that gives you new

While Emily Dickinson and Ralph Waldo Emerson do draw from various wellsprings of motivation, their written work, their speculations and thoughts behind composing, and the way they wind up showing themselves are in fact comparative from multiple points of view. Dickinson shows some impact of introspective philosophy Emerson discusses. Emerson contained three different central ideas that classified as requirements for a poet. They were composed of the relationship between the soul and the art of the poet, the poet’s communicative or prophetic function and the relationship with nature, and the objective of the poetry entirely. Emily Dickinson completed these requirements over time.…

This saying is also cliche but it stands true; what's on paper does not always translate. By using that saying, I am trying to portray that in theory defining mastery is easy, but in reality the definition of mastery is extremely dependent on the situation. In summation, one does not have to do something beyond what he or she has mastered to grow because there is always room for growth; there are always new standards that have to be met, and it is nearly impossible to define mastery. At the end of the day, the group or individual has to find what works for them.…

Once, Ralph Waldo Emerson and his son tried to get a calf to go into the barn from the pasture. While Emerson pushed and his son pulled, the young calf stiffened its legs stubbornly and refused to leave the pasture. An Irish housemaid who was employed by Emerson at that time took notice of the situation and interfered. She put her index finger in the calf_s mouth and let it suck on it while she led it gently to the barn. The housemaid was not an educated person and definitely could not write essays and books like Emerson did, yet in that she proved that she had more sense.…

Although to some people consistency is boring, to others it’s perfectly fine. Some people love doing the same things all the time. It’s more comfortable for them to stick to the same things. I think most people would agree that it’s easier to do what you already know how to, and that is what is holding them back from trying new things, the fear of failure.…

The thought of mastering something such as a job, field of education, trade and many other things has long been sought for many generations. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have mastered, you will never grow. " This is a bold statement that many would disagree with for good reasons. This statement says that a person can fully master in something which is false because to master something means to have a perfected the subject at hand. Not one person on this earth is perfect which means that there is no such thing as mastering something and means that you are always growing.…

Never think that it's good enough. ALWAYS seek to improve yourself and your skills and no matter what happens always keep a positive outlook and never give up on your dreams, but if you give up and don’t try your hardest then you will never NEVER achieve your goals, and you will never do what you want to. Let me tell you a quick story That my father used to tell me. There once was a frog living in a well and to this frog, the well was the entire world, but one day another frog from outside the well looked in and asked, “What's down there?” , And the trapped frog told him that everything was down there, but the other frog sadly told the trapped frog that there was an enormous world that he hadn’t seen.…

Nature is more than the phenomena of the physical world; nature is emotion. Nature eradicates all negativity and friction in life and exposes the tranquility. The intricacy nature provides is unequivocally astonishing; moreover, nature is like space as a result of its incredible complexity. A wise, transcendental man, Ralph Waldo Emerson, shares the same perspective as I toward nature; there is nothing in this vast, sophisticated world that has the ability to come to the equivalency of serenity nature provides Ralph Waldo Emerson and I. Ralph Waldo Emerson says, “In the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in streets or villages. In the tranquil landscape, and especially in the distant line of the horizon, man beholds somewhat…

After reading Emerson’s ideals Transcendentalism in English Three Edited by: Dave Bean and Anne Rothacker of the American Experience, it defines Transcendentalism as an Ideology rather than a religion. In Emerson’s writings he explains this. “The transcendental law, Emerson believed, was the “moral law,” through which human beings discover the nature of God, a living spirit yet it had been the practice of historical Christianity--”as if God were dead”--...”(182). Emerson believed that transcendentalism respected god as spiritual being rather than being alive and watching over us. Emerson thanked god for his creations in nature, but looked at Christianity as a thing of the past.…

It's better to do more of the mastered things that you already did, than doing none of the things you didn't learn how to do. So, you should always do something, instead of doing nothing while you have the time to be doing the things to learn. You should always try something beyond what you already mastered because you'll get more experienced, you'll get better at doing it, you'll be able to do it a lot more, it could impact your life, and you could do more things than other people could do. If you do more, you will be able to be good at everything while you're growing up.…

How does one know when they have to move on after they "mastered" a skill? According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, " Unless you go beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow. " This may be true to a point, but how does one know they have mastered a skill? The only true way to make sure a skill is mastered, is to constantly work on it. This is because skills are a concept like the world, they are constantly changing around us proving one may never master one specific skill and grow while on the journey.…

The comparisons made in this statement validate it further. Pythagoras, Socrates, Galileo, and Newton were all at the forefront of their field and made incredible contributions to modern science. They most definitely were misunderstood at the time of their discovery.…
