Every worker looks so proud and excited to speak about the food being made and the restaurant they work at. I spoke to the manager and owner Francisco Vega who explained the dedication his workers bring, he explained with a large and handsome smile,” they go above and beyond to keep our restaurant clean and enjoyable, it amazes me the things they bring to this small establishment, from decorations, working overtime when needed, even finding new recipes out from older family members in tangamandapio. They are a really great crew”.I noticed he treats all his workers as family and it reflects out to the customers. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with heartwarming hellos, that follow with sincere goodbyes. The Employees make sure that everything is perfect from start to finish, because of these great vibes people have chose to celebrate special event at this restaurant. that's partly why Resturante de Tangamandapio has become so special for many families, not only does it provide the greatest food and great community feeling but is provides us with a beautiful presentation, something Modesto hasn't provided us in a while. The Mexican style building was built two years ago, my first time seeing it all I could think was how great of a representation it had of the Chicano, and Mexican community it had. The first thing to notice is the huge Mayan basted mural on the side of the building. This mural is filled with beautiful clay based colors while remaining classy and inviting. As you walk towards the entrance you are surrounded by flowers and Virginia creepers climbing around the arch of the entrance, with no hesitation I was reminded of the gardens my great grandma grew in her backyard in mexico, i instantly felt at home. Walking inside was mesmerizing, The two story building was wrapped around the outside of a beautiful stage where we enjoyed live music as we chowed down on our mouthwatering plates. The whole restaurant is decorated with the most beautiful paintings. Charros, Adelitas, beaches and hardworking villagers occupy the walls in vibrant colors to represent the beauties of Mexico. The main thing I couldnt help to think was how much did all this cost because not

    Ponce De Leon Hall History

Built primarily in the 19th century revival style of the Spanish Renaissance, the hall shares the style’s influence from Gothic, Romanesque, and other historic sources (“Spanish Architecture Overview”). Similar to the Spanish Renaissance architecture of the past, the exterior of Ponce de Leon hall possesses the typical courtyard-centered organization, ornate portals, carved doorways, lack of ornamentation except around doors and windows, tiles, Italian-influenced facades and features, (Sherman, 139-140) and even a tower, that, in its more current setting commands a level of importance and power through its appeared connection to the past (Figure 2). Breaking up the smooth concrete walls of the exterior are red brick, which adds both a stylistic contrast and mimics the quoins along the corners of Italianate and other Renaissance Revival styles (Figure 3). These details are repeated around the arched windows and doorways, and carried up along the tower, which is also a prominent feature for these antecedents of the Spanish Renaissance. The details of the conical tower roof and the column capitals are reminiscent of Moorish ornamentation, but the projecting roofs with ornamental bracketing and repeating elements already mentioned all show the heavy influence of the Italian Renaissance Revivals on the Spanish architecture (Sherman…

Relaxed, full of music, dancing and performance art became the fashioned restaurant of “Amor Cubano” that brought a taste of Cuba’s cultural food founded by Julio Quevdo, Mario Zarate and the young couple Dailyn Santos and Jorge Davis. Customers applaud the opening of the restaurant because it served as a reunion and a great place to eat back when the recession of 2008 hit, but what made “Amor Cubano” come out of their shell and attract people? It is, of course, their Cuban food where Ms. Vivian (associated with the owner) trained the…

Every time I walk into Texas Roadhouse my eyes wonder over to where the rolls and their special cinnamon butter waiting to be consumed by the customer. I hear country music playing in the background, and feel peanuts crumbling under my feet like leaves on a beautiful autumn day. Without looking at the menu, my mind is already preparing my stomach for the flavorful food that I am about to encounter. Texas Roadhouse gives the Newark population somewhere local to get a great steak while getting a significate value. My expectations before participating in this activity was for it to not be as authentic as it was. I did not realize that there was a place downtown that had such real and good food and wondered why I haven’t heard of this place before. Also, I was surprised with the poverty I saw around the area. I have always grown up in areas that have a decent amount of money and have never been to a spanish speaking country or area before. This experience really opened my eyes to the fact that there are places out there that still have authenticity and still try to resist becoming “Americanized” in society.…
