When looking back on the written language of the Celts, no books or poems were found. Latin material was found in much larger quantity; and is still widely popular throughout literature. It looks as if Roman’s once again were better than the Celts, until a later discovery. Celtic Monks actually were the ones to copy and translate these old manuscripts. Some old inscriptions were found in Latin, Greek, and the language of the Celts, Ogham. The Celts version was called the Coligny Calendar. Their calendar was discovered in the year 1897 by a farmer. The farmer realized the piece of art that he had found, but it was not until 1989, that scholar Garrett Olmstead, could interpret the calendar. He discovered that the Celtic calendar was the most advanced of its kind. A calendar by the Romans was also discovered, but after closer research it was discovered that the Romans were far off from being correct in determining the proper amount of days.
