The Friar and the Two Lovers

Do people ever let their emotions control their actions? Do people ever listen to ill given advice? Many do, and the greatest example of this can be found in english literature. In 1597 the great english playwright, William Shakespeare wrote, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. In this legendary play two children of feuding families fall in love. Through the whole play they try to figure out how to make it work but, in the end it only leads to death. The audience finds themselves wondering who is to blame for this death among the slew of characters; Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Prince, Mercutio, the Nurse, or Friar Laurence? But in the end it can all be narrowed down to three main people. Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Laurence

In the third act while juliet is waiting for her nurse to return with the news she says “Give me my Romeo; and when i shall die,/Take him and cut him out in little stars./And he will make the face of heaven so fine/That all the world will be in love with night/And pay no worship to the garish sun”.(3.2.21-25) This quote shows us that juliet was deeply in love with Romeo and she was so madly in love, that she would do anything for him. Throughout the entire play Romeo came up and made all of the decisions juliet was only a follower. She was blinded by love, and didn’t make any of the decisions that she should have, she didn’t make any of the decisions that could have saved her life. Clearly the Friar, Romeo, and Juliet were the main three people to blame in this play. The friar gave them advice keeping the goal of peace in mind when he should have had them run away. Romeo was blinded by love, he never questioned the friar, and was to in love, to make plans of his own. Juliet was a follower. She was led by love and did everything Romeo said, no questions asked. All three of these people are to blame because even if one of them hadn’t done what they did then they would have still been alive to tell their
