After Romeo was banished, Juliet’s father wanted her to marry Paris which she declined. However, due to the circumstances Juliet could not deny the proposal from the Paris any longer and a wedding was arranged. Laurence felt that it was his duty to save the marriage between Romeo and Juliet after Juliet approached him. He devised the plan that eventually led to the death of the two lovers. The plan to put Juliet into deep sleep so as to appear dead for some days was his plan and while his intentions were honorable, the quick plan lacked skill and collapsed. The messenger that would have sent the information about the plan to Romeo did not arrive in time and instead Romeo received the news that his love was dead. Romeo would not have made it back to the kingdom at that particular time if it were not for the news of his dead bride. The pain and confusion is what led Romeo to take his life. These are the same feelings that led Juliet to take her life after finding the man she loved dead. Therefore, if Laurence had come up with a different plan to save Juliet from marrying Paris that did not include faking her death then there is a possibility that Romeo and Juliet could not have
