This boycott was to protest Rosa Parks arrest. A new group called Montgomery Improvement Association and they elected Martin Luther King Jr. as the Minister of this group. On December 5, 1955 Rosa parks what found guilty and had to pay fines to be released. Although she was found guilty she started a movement that would change history forever. The Montgomery bus boycott continued to months after the trail, the city of Montgomery and its people were outraged. E.D. Nixon and Martin Luther King Jr.’s houses were bombed, African American’s were being arrested and Insurances were being cancelled on taxi’s to forced “the coloreds” to take the bus. The financial loss of business going down, the city of Montgomery was forced to give in to the African American community and lift segregation law on public buses. The boycott finally ended on December 20, 1956. Although Rosa Parks started a huge movement she was still faced with other hardships. She had to relocate to Detroit Michigan, because of her arrest she lost her job as a seamstress as well as her husband for associating himself with her. She started over in Detroit as a receptionist, she even joined a new group “Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Rosa and a longtime friend founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development. Years after and throughout Rosa Parks life she received many awards and recognition
