William Shakespeare’s play, Othello, tells the story of a man who lost his life on account of the lies told by other people. However, this man’s self-hatred acts as a catalyst for the events which lead to his untimely demise; this man is known as Othello. Othello’s self-hatred not only leads him to accept the claim that his wife is disloyal, but it also causes him to take his own life. In Othello, by William Shakespeare the title character’s self-loathing proves to be one of his most damaging flaws. The enmity which Othello feels towards himself, ultimately leads Othello to accept the claim that his wife is cheating on him.
