Everyone experiences difficulties, related to not being able to study effectively at one time or another and overcoming these challenges is a part of the learning process. We require skills that make studying more effective. They are generally more critical or essential to become a successful student and an effective learner. The essay is about self-reflection so that I critically think about those weaknesses which act as an obstacle in order for me to be able to study effectively in my university as well as normal life. It will point out some of my weaknesses that I face while studying which are lack of motivation to study due to stress, tiredness etc. My problem with time management due to procrastination and stress management issues. I generally end up completing at the last minute due to always procrastinating. I also realized that when I had any work assigned to me I would make a to -do list but would never end up following it. It became an issue since I did not really make it a priority and did not really set any realistic goals. What also leads not being able to manage time is getting easily distracted while studying, by the things taking place around me like social media, phones, television, internet etc. Time management is important in order have a balance between studying and social activities. The concept of time management according to (Lay & Schouwenburg, 1993) is defined in terms of clusters of behavior that are deemed to facilitate productivity and alleviate stress. Time management is important to improve the quality of life, some of the most common problems such as stress due vigorous schedule and thus lack of time for personal work, could be fixed very easily. It also helps to reduce any frustration, especially when we are trying to develop a balance between university and personal life in our busy schedule. By making proper usage of time we can reduce the frustrations we have. it also helps to provide a peace of mind which helps us to live a healthy life. It also helps to give us more quality time to enjoy as well as still make a progress in things which are important for our education or learning purpose. Time management also …show more content…
This usually happens to me during the exam time. I go through stress related to not being able to complete my test on time. the pressure of not being able to complete an assignment in a tight schedule before the deadline. This ends up increasing my anxiety level which results in giving me mood swings, over eating, worrying thoughts about the worst thing that could happen to me. It’s important to cope up with stress to live a long and a happy life. Proper way of dealing with stress will not only help us to live a balanced life, also allow us to take charge of our thoughts, helps to improve our immune system, increases our energy levels that allows us to spend more quality time with family and friends, improves the sleeping pattern, helps us to remain calm even in tough situation and also would help us to focus on something we desire to do as of studying more effectively ( healthmatters.idaho,2003). According to Lazarus and Folkman (1984) the strategies to deal with stress are done in two ways - Problem focused strategy allows us to know our stresses, analyses what stresses us about an event, break down various components of the situation into manageable chunks, identify which part is the problems, develop an action plan or by applying emotion-focused strategy which lets know our stressors ,reflect on how we feel when confronted with the stressor, resist our feeling to avoid thinking
