Sex offenders Sex crimes are a serious issue in our society today and they should be handled accordingly. For a while, we have had trouble coming up with an appropriate way to manage sex offenders. There are extensive laws in place to protect the people from sex offenders. (“Sex Offenders”). Sex offenders have committed crimes that result in a need for punishment. Sex offenders, however, should not have their names made available to the public because they still have certain rights that should be respected, and exposing their names puts them in danger. A sex offender is anyone who has been found guilty of a sex crime. Some examples of sex crimes according to the American Disabilities Act are “sexual conduct with a minor, sexual assault, sexual assault of spouse, molestation of a child, sexual abuse of a child, indecent exposure and public sexual indecency, child prostitution, sexual exploitation of a minor, incest, kidnapping, aggravated assault, murder, unlawful imprisonment, and burglary when the crime is committed due to a sexual motive.” There are state laws on sex crimes, and there are also federal crimes on sex laws. Its goal was to protect children from sex offenders that were online, and it aimed to prevent child abuse, sexual exploitation, and distribution of child pornography. Under the SORNA law, Sex offenders are required to appear in person, be photographed and provide all information required from them, the information is then made public.
