Dress codes standards send home students every day, all over the country, for being too revealing. Most are girls, and on occasions, boys that struggle with the standards, therefore they should be lowered. It’s taking away from your class time, limits self-expression, and the rules can sometimes not be correctly administered are all problems caused by dress codes standards. The dress code can take away from class time because everyone is more concerned with how we are dressed, rather than worrying about if we’ll do good on our next math test, or studying for the history final. During class, teachers can stop their lesson to tell one of their students that they are violating dress codes, therefore taking time away from class and from other students learning for something that is not relevant outside of school.…

Administration such as Senator Stephenson must immediately send innocent children to the office for this ridiculous blue-coated “Dress-code Violation” attire and pressing suspension to those who wish not to humiliate and embarrass themselves throughout the school day. I say it is downright deliberate intent to embarrass every student in every way possible by their operation of throwing the “Blue Suit” upon us. But certainly, from here on out, Westlake High School Dress-code shall no longer be enforced. We, students of Westlake High School now consider ourselves free to wear as we wish. He has refused to pass other laws on how teachers shouldn’t loosely teach us students without the intent of us learning something, yet he’d rather enforce something less important in a school atmosphere; an interrupted right to wear what we solemnly desire to express ourselves.…

As for dress code, students should have the freedom to dress freely, there is really no point of restricting what they wear and punishing them for breaking it. In addition, students shall have the control over what they learn. Students have the ability to choose their classes, however they have to have the necessary classes: English, Math, History, Science; and they cannot drop any of these classes that they do not like or are not interested…

We all know that group of girls who show up to school with their breast popping out of their shirts, butts hanging out of their shorts, and belly shirts that show way too much skin. Obviously, dressing like this to school is in no way appropriate, and should be addressed. Another argument of why the dress code should be enforced is the fact that school is a learning environment and that we should be teaching kids how to dress for the future. By doing this, you are helping young adults understand that wearing a crop top or (for boys) wearing saggy pants to an interview definitely won’t get you a job. Others may say that enforcing the dress code, like providing school uniforms, will help families that are in poverty and will decrease bullying when it comes to making fun of someone’s…

Students should be required to wear uniforms so that they can focus more on learning than on fashion, or on the hard decision of what to wear in the morning. Students wearing uniform cuts down bullying and improves discipline, helps promote focus, and save parents money throughout the school year. The main reason for uniforms is that they promote discipline, which in turn helps improve academic performance (Bennett). People who oppose school uniform have stated uniform requirement violates, or disregards, the right to freedom of expression, ("Fashion do or don 't?"). I believe students wearing uniforms makes them all feel the same, and look nice and…

Recently in Kentucky a girl was sent home because, her outfit revealed her collarbone. This doesn’t make sense as there is nothing wrong with a collarbone showing, it's not in any way expressing nudity. Then, the school goes on to state that the collarbone is merely a reference point. I feel that this the school's way of abusing their right to enforce the dress code. First of all, the school has every right to establish and enforce a dress code.…
