Should Year-Round Schooling Stay The Same?

Educators of Society have recently debated on the topic of enforcing year-round schooling. This means schools would engage in year-round curriculum with breaks every season. Schooling should stay the same because students will have a long-lasting summer break, lower stress levels, and it will conserve money.

Schooling should stay the same because it gives students a long and substantial Summer break. Students seriously appreciate the value of summer vacation because it gives them enough time to have fun in the sun! For instance, one who loves the beach during the Summer is able to surf the barreling waves, tan on the white glimmering sand, and build sand castles with their family and friends. Since the sun shines the brightest in this season, the sun rays increase happiness. One’s skin can absorb the Sun’s rays which enhances endorphins in the human body. Endorphins are “feel-good” hormones which increase happiness within human behavior by 90%. Since Summer break is such a positive event for students, Schooling should stay the same.

During Summer break, School is closed for almost 2 and a half months. This means lights, water, heat, and electric is not needed during the day. Whether one pays bills or not, they know that these appliances are surely not cheap and leaving them on during the summer would only increase government spending. Society pays for public schools in taxes in order to make school “free”. Well, School isnt free. If schools were opened year-round, taxes would increase and savings would decrease. Many people cannot afford the year-round school system because some simply need the extra dollars in a paycheck to get by.
