The religions Judaism, Islam, and Christianity all originated in the holy city of Jerusalem. Judaism was founded by Moses over 3500 years ago. Islam was founded by Muhammad in the 7th century. Christianity was founded by Emperor Constantine in 325 A.D. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam share many qualities, but they also have many differences. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have many things in common. Each religion practices a time of fasting during the year. In Islam, Muslims fast for a whole month during Ramadan because it brings faith close to God and reminds them of the suffering of the less fortunate. While in Judaism, they fast on Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement, and Ninth of AV and also Christians fast for 40 days by giving up something which they call lent. Another similarity is that all three religions are monotheistic. In Judaism, they believe in one god named Tetragrammaton. The first difference is that they have different holy books. Christianity holy book is the Bible, which was written by many people. The Judaism holy book is the Torah written by Moses and the Muslim holy book is the Quran written by Muhammad. Another difference is that the religions celebrate different special events. In Islam, they celebrate an event called Eid al Fitr and in Christianity they celebrate Christmas.Christmas is a festival celebrated for the birth of Jesus Christ and Eid al Fitr is the celebration of the end of fasting. In Judaism, they celebrate Hanukkah which is the festival of lights. The last difference is that all three religions have different places of worships.
