Similarities Between Big And Little Brown Bats

Improved Essays
My report is about brown bats. There are two types of brown bats. They are called Big and Little Brown Bats. I learned that they are nocturnal animals. That means they are active at night and sleep during the day. Brown bats sleep up to 20 hours per day. The life span of the Big Brown Bat is 18-20 years while the Little Brown Bat lives 6-7 years. If you go looking for brown bats you will find them in big colonies.

Big Brown Bats and Little Brown Bats are similar because they are both covered in fur, have leathery wings, and have short round ears. These bats are also very different. Little Brown Bats weigh 14-16 grams with a body size of

Aluminum bats have been around since 1973. They have progressed as the years have gone by, and have gotten lighter, faster, and have been given a larger sweet spot. But 12 years ago the BESR standard was introduced; this was the first restriction put on performance rather than just banning a type of bat. In my mind that means that it should be considered a “prototype”, or test in a sense, and was meant to be refined in the future. That refinement of BESR ended up as the BBCOR standard.…

It is at this point in the essay where examining the specific journal entries of Lewis, Clark and the known associates of the expedition help prove the question of whether or not the expedition was truly well prepared for their journey westward. Upon beginning their journey, Lewis was attentive as ever, “staying up till midnight, making observations every five minutes or so for an hour or more.” This was only practice, as the group was still making its way down the Ohio, and was often frustrating and impossible, but as seen in the journals, the expedition progressed. Maybe most particularly, research of the expedition could not be done without the journals, and it is the quality of the journals that show how the expedition was indeed prepared for what lay west of the Mississippi River. This can be seen through the writings of Lewis, who, as stated previously, was educated both by Jefferson and the educated elite of the country before departing.…

Should vampire bats be killed or protected and research? Vampire bats could lead to many technological and biological breakthroughs, but they can spread rabies and attack humans and cattle. These creatures should be studied, not put to death. This is because they help us through many technological and biological discoveries as mention in Los Angeles Times’ article “ Vampire bat debate: To kill or not to kill” on paragraph 15,” Bats have developed a radar system that can distinguish the tiniest insect in the middle of a dense bush in dead night” said Todd Capson, Smithsonian staff scientist...( keeping)... ”It’s inconceivable there isn’t something to learn from that”…

Brown anoles reach sexual reproductive maturity at 1 year of their typical 5-year lifespan in the wild. They usually have 0-2 offspring at one time and breed seasonally in the summer months, usually March or April and until August or September. The female lays one or two eggs at a time on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for the entire breeding season, reproducing at most, 9 times in one year. Brown anoles are generalist species, they can thrive in many environments, including urban and suburban areas of Florida as long as there are areas of open vegetation, forests, and even higher niches in trees. I believe that Nagel 's primary conclusion in “What is it like to be a bat?” is that while there are multiple different forms of consciousness, humans cannot be sure of the presence of consciousness in lesser forms of animals, such as a bat. The “what it is like” for Nagel is reworded as being subjective character. The bat has subjective character, which is experience. Even though we know that bats hang upside down, have webbed arms and feet, and use echolocation, we will never truly know what it is like to be a bat. While we can all have thoughts on what it is like to be a bat, Nagel states that because everything has its own interpretation of itself, there is no way we can add specific information into our minds to actually see what it is…
