The immediate outcome of the French Revolution was the Directory coming to power. This event occurred because France was tired of revolutionists and the Directory consist of moderates. Sadly, the Directory was corrupt and used France’s finances for their own needs. France changed its form of government several times during the French Revolution, however, in the end the government (Directory) didn’t do much good. The French Revolution didn’t achieve much of its original goal because the third estate still had to pay taxes and only gained a few rights. This is very insignificant considering approximately 40,000 people die, most of the 40,000 was from the third estate. This differs from the Haitian Revolution because the Haitian Revolution was very successful and made a remarkable change to the French colony, St.Domingue. The Haitian Revolution had one of the most successful slave revolts because it emancipated all the slaves in the French Caribbean. Eventually, this led to St.Domingue being renamed Haiti and declaring itself an independent nation. This significant because Haiti became the first black colony freed from the Europeans, and the second nation in the Western Hemisphere to acquire its independence. However, they differ because the Haitian Revolution was more involved in slave rebellions and its outcome was more successful when compared to the French Revolution. Revolutions in general can have more than one cause and effect; Different revolutions can be related to each like how the French Revolution triggered the Haitian Revolution and what happened in Haiti.
