Mrs. Mallard’s confined life is much more different than Delia Jones. Like I have said before Mrs. Mallard suffers from a severe heart condition that could most likely kill her if she is startled. This heart condition is one of the things that confines Mrs. Mallard to her home. The story talks about her slender hands, which means Mrs. Mallard does not participate in manual labor, most likely because of her heart condition. This heart condition does not only affect Mrs. Mallard, but her family as well. One example of this is when Mr. Mallard “dies” in an accident and her family has to explain things to Mrs. Mallard without her “Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble, great care was taken to break to her as gently as possible the news of her husband 's death” (Chopin Pg. 1). Mrs. Mallard’s family pretty much moves quietly around her to be sure nothing will scare her. So when her sister got the news about Mr. Mallard passing away she had no idea how Mrs. Mallard was going to react. Her sister and a family friend named Richards take time to gently tell Mrs. Mallard that her husband has died. Knowing that the news could kill Mrs. Mallard they kind of play around with the truth until she understands what had happened. Yes, there are more differences than similarities, but some of the similarities would be that they both have husbands that may be a part of their confinement to their homes. Another Similarity between these two women is that they both end up free. Obliviously Mrs. Mallard was only allowed to enjoy the freedom for a little, while Delia will be able to be free for the rest of her life without that psycho of husband that she had. The differences are what really separate these two woman. Mrs. Mallard is different from Delia, because Mrs. Mallard does not know the first thing about hard work, whereas Delia is a hard working woman who “sweats” he butt off every day. Another difference between these two women is that Mrs. Mallard is a woman that has to have someone take care of her because of the heart condition that she suffers, and Delia is one that is fully capable of taking care of
