In 2008 the UK was the first nation to create a legally binding climate change target, this was the 2008 Climate Change Act. The target was to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% from the 1990 baseline by 2050. This will be achieved by setting carbon budgets; reducing the demand for energy; investing in low-carbon technologies; reduce agriculture emissions which include nitrous oxide and methane. I believe that in the long term that not only will this move help to keep the population safe from illness but it will also help the country
