Due to the academic pressure from society, teens tend to make poor life decisions. “Others may resort to cheating to make up for their lack of motivation or live up to the standard set up by older siblings or parents” (Sargunjot). Cheating is the most common effects of academic pressure, when teens feel that they can not live up to these expectations. Besides, students would want to take the easy way out to get a better grade by using this method. Teens can make other poor life decisions besides cheating. Today, the pressure from society has made students to feel the need to be a “superhuman”, someone who is amazing at everything, or a perfectionist. This can make students dial up the stress, and push themselves towards being a perfectionist, which can decrease the chances of real success (Ginsburg). Society's pressure causes students to think that in order to make it, they have to be superb at absolutely everything. Furthermore, being a perfectionist can cause students to fear of failure, and self-doubt.
