Growing up in a household with a mother who has strived in the nursing field has really become an inspiration in what I desired to pursue. She was a divorced mother with two kids as a registered nurse, but still wanted to further her education to become a now recently nurse practitioner. During the next few years, she was able to remarry again and have another child. My now even bigger family has supported her through her journey and seeing that opened my eyes to such a relative career. For me, I do believe I carry the traits my mother obtains. Resiliency. Passion. Patience. Diligence. Empathy. Leadership. Optimism. Self-disciplined. Ambition. I do, after all, carry her genes. What makes me unique though, is that I make sure to do what I want

I may not have a fancy internship in the medical field. I may not have many official volunteer experiences in the medical field. However, I do believe my passion I have nurtured pays off. My community service is well beyond the expectations for graduation, more than 100 hours. My extracurriculars are always dedicated to helping others. Even my friends come to me due to the comforting qualities I obtain. Thus, I revealed a strong commitment in doing service for others, showing potential in the medical field. To add on, I always step up to help someone in need, no matter what type of situation occurs. In some situations, working under pressure is no big deal for me as I am always faced with demanding standards and can control the situation. I am the oldest in my family as well so I can handle multiple responsibilities at once while working well with others. However, I am still able to retain my individual mind. I have dedicated my education to start on this path with my exceptional advanced science classes. I already have a head start in college with my solid foundation dedicated to classes pertaining to nursing. I am prepared and willing to always learn more, to strive more. At one point, I have dealt with depression. It affected my performance in school during my sophomore year, as grades started to slip. I lost all motivation and purpose to work hard in school, but I knew this slip up could ruin any possible potential of succeeding in the future. Getting out of this hole signifies one of my biggest accomplishments. I had a bump in the road, I confess, but I was able to still move onto bigger things. It was hard for me to open to people and socialize at this time, but I manage to go everyday and fill it with a purpose. I picked myself back up all on my own and moved on. Lastly, I am facing another challenge right now. My grandma has been recently diagnosed with cancer. She is one of my biggest supporters throughout my life and there is a possibility she cannot even watch her first grandchild graduate. Everyday, I try to look at the bright side, praying that medicine will help her live. I love her very much and since this news is significant, it pushes me more and more to be part of the medical field to make her proud just like what my mom did. I want to help families who are suffering through this exact situation, making their journey of cooperating with this sickness smooth as possible, as a nurse with a relatable
