For example, an individual could be really ill and does not want to go and see the doctor, or a person goes and sees the doctor but is not actually as ill as the people who are actually more ill. In this case the doctors might give the same advice but imply different analysis. So if an individual when to one doctor and described their illness with no interest and no energy in life, and that one doctor would say that they are depressed, however if they went to a different doctor and explained the same situation, tat doctor might say that they have fatigue syndrome. There are four sociological expectations regarding this, which are: the statistical artefact explanation, natural or social selection, cultural or behavioural explanations and material or structural explanations. The statistical artefact explanation is that there are many differences that could be defined by statistics that have produced to make up a picture. The Black Report have disagreed and had an argument that, individuals that are in lower social classes have a high range of older people that are working in dangerous environment, so it is more likely for them to catch an illness. This implies that, it doesn’t really depend on what social class you’re from, it the age structure and pattern shows the difference in people that are in lower social classes. The Natural or social selection suggest that it’s not about people that are in lower social classes or about them having low wages, they think that illness comes from the places and houses they live in.
