In the state of Pennsylvania alone there is a task force targeted towards racers (Iterview). When a person is caught street he or she can get multiple fines or face jail time. In Pennsylvania if one is caught with illegal modifications to his or her car he or she will be facing jail time.
To avoid possible jail time and fines, there are alternatives to street racing. Drag racing is racing on race tracks and are safer because it is in a controlled enviroment. Allowing people to race on tracks satisfiys they “need for speed” and keeps innocent people safe on public roads. In some states certificates are being issued for owners to use their illegally modified cars on the tracks(Streetracer.com). With some states allowing this, cops are allowing owners of illegally modified cars to be hooked up to trailer but they are not allowed to be driven on the road
