A way to develop such a sentiment at Success Middle School is to create service learning opportunities. By integrating the curriculum with community service, students expand their knowledge outside the classroom and parents can take part in service learning projects. This will not only socially impact the school community by bringing about collaboration, but will also stimulate the intellectual growth of students. According to Arrington and Moore (2001), “when we purposefully involve students in the learning experiences that stretch far beyond the school walls into the community and world, we provide motivation and relevance” (Glickman, 2013).
