Patch Adams once said “You treat a disease: you win, you lose. You treat a person: I guarantee you win- no matter the outcome”. These words have resonated with me. I have always been fascinated with the different elements that compose the healthcare system. This passion has compelled me to pursue a career in a medical field, especially because I am infatuated by the complex mechanisms of the human body. Furthermore, disease can rob us from many things, potentially undermining our ability to seek happiness. As a person who values happiness, it often causes me great distress to witness people without it.
