McGalla attributes much of her success to her self-confidence and work ethic, but also to her attitude. To McGalla, genders are neither helpful or hindering. She never allowed expectations or prejudices to affect her attitude or her work. This is the attitude that McGalla hopes all women will have regarding their careers. Attitude, hard work, and confidence are far more important in achieving a successful career than gender.
McGalla currently sits on the boards of HFF Inc., and the Magee-Womens Hospital Research Institue and Foundation. She also serves as the Director of Strategic Planning and Growth for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Formerly, she was a trustee of the University of Pittsburgh and director the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.
