Several issues occurred between Ted and Manuel working relationship. Due to Ted poor knowledge of the way things work in a Mexican business and the unwillingness to learn about them prove very disastrous for Ted. Ted is only familiar with the US business practice and it seems that he felt that it was the only way to do business. For example, in the US when a company wants to do business with another company, the seller comes in with a sample product and present price list. In Mexico, that is not how business operates; the buyer and seller learn a lot about the companies, such as the historical and cultural factors about the company. Ted only interest was to get the Mexican business off the ground and running properly. He did not listen to Manuel when his recommendations were wrong. Manuel problems also occurred because could not fully communicate the needs of the worker because Ted was not listening and was very insensitive to the business opening issues of Mexico. He did not follow Ted instructions on firing people who did not meet the American standards of production. Manuel did not agree with the recommendations and informed Ted that this will not work, but Ted did not listen. In Mexico, they look at all relationship long term, especially when business transactions are involved. Ted should have listened to Manuel and understood that people of Mexico work hard but they will not want overtime and they will do things in their own
