I've always heard that drivers should practice "defensive driving. " It makes sense, we all know how big a car is and how fast it can go, you can find all of those numbers somewhere on the car itself. We all know someone who has been in an accident, be it minor or major. When cars collide, it can be catastrophic and everyone knows it well. But somehow, at least for me, the idea of it actually all being real didn't happen until I had gotten into an accident where I was forced to deal with the consequences of even a minor collision.…

It’s easy to be distracted while driving, and a major distraction for teen drivers is additional passengers in the car. In the article “Teen Drivers” it states, “The odds of having a serious accident increase with each teen that gets into the car”, and the reasoning is that the more voices and activity in the car, the more things to keep the driver preoccupied from focusing entirely on the road, especially for a teenager. Other bad habits tend to be reckless driving tactics on the road. Since teens are young, they tend to have less respect for safe driving and may not take the necessary driving precautions, and in the article it states, “Furthermore, they(young drivers) are more likely to engage in risky driving behaviors such as speeding, following too closely, passing inappropriately, and driving without a seat belt”(paragraph…

Most teenage drivers are involved in car crashes every year, and more are killed than in any other age group. Even to this day, 6,000 teens die in accidents annually—more than fifteen a day (Triplett 1). These alarming statistics prove that receiving a driver’s license at the age of sixteen is merely too young. Teenagers are incompetent about being on the road, which increases the chances of putting others at risk because they have not developed a strong level of maturity and experience. The driving age among teens should be increased because facts prove that teenagers cannot handle the physiological and physical challenges that approach them on the road.…

There are teens at the age of eighteen who have their license and can drive their friends around but lack experience. If kids are driving by themselves for an extra year, then they will be more responsible at the age of eighteen when they drive with others. With this inexperience, they have a crash rate higher than any other age group. If teens start earlier and drive more before they are free to drive their friends' places teens should lower the number of accidents they have on the road a substantial amount. Teens should be able to drive at a younger age because it can help them be more responsible.…

Receiving my first car had a very important significance in my life. Since I was a child, I’ve always admired to drive, regardless of whether it was over my dad’s lap. Once and a while he would give me the chance to drive around the neighborhood or in non-busy streets to get the hang of it little by little. By the age of sixteen, I acquired my driver’s license, which meant that I could drive by myself without the company of someone by side me, this felt more like freedom than a license. My dad would authorize me to drive his car when he would return home from work and I cherished the feeling of just going out by myself, I explored the feeling of being responsible and free.…
