In early April 1883, a young woman living in Stoke Moran raises concern over the mysterious death of her sister. It was the eve of her wedding when Julia Stoner died. Now, Helen Stoner fears for her life due to her own upcoming marriage. When a weary Helen hears the low whistle, her sister claimed to hear, she resolves to visit a detective. Dr. Roylott displays his insolent individuality when threatening Holmes. This action of man versus man is both an external and internal conflict between Dr. Roylott and Sherlock Holmes. Seeing the intimidating character of Dr. Roylott impelled Holmes and Watson to inspect Helen’s situation more thoroughly. Watson discovers the will of the deceased wife.
