The two main economic events that summarized the American economy in 20s were Wall Street Clash and the Great Depression. Due to these crises, the American lifestyle changed and affected Americans in numerous contrasting ways. Firstly, Wall Street Crash was the greatest stock market crash in the history of the United States and this was the first causing event that started or build up the economic crisis in the United States. The Roaring Twenties was the period when most Americans had luxurious and abundance life. People were immoderate about materials, money, properties, etc. I guess this was the time when materialism and consumerism were prevalent among Americans. Along with that, people started to use stocks to expand their richness. Due to increasing number of people using stocks, American economy boosted up pretty a lot. However, on October 29, 1929, there was a stock crash in Wall Street, as a result not many people got their cash back. As the economy started to decline, the Great Depression brought up. The Great Depression was a period, lasting from 1929 to 1940, in which the US economy was in severe decline and millions of Americans were unemployed. Even though, Americans had prosperity and tried to show off their properties and trends, most population, especially women, had sorrows of being lonely and miserable. Because, at that time it was salient to represent oneself to be “attractive” to get successful and achieved their goals, such as getting marriage with the partners who could continue on prosperity and famous together. Numerous women were depressed about the failure they had when they had tried so hard to reach to the goal : a marriage with wealthy man. Some women, who could not afford to look attractive, mostly did everything to earn to look pretty. However, most of the consequences were ended up as they expected. Not only this went to women, but many population felt the emptiness and loneliness during the period. This also affected to African-Americans. They felt the emptiness coming from the realization of the purpose of living their life and the consequences. Among all those racist, discrimination, etc, African Americans had to fight against the ordeals and on the other hand most realized the pointless purpose of fighting back when they got nothing, but tiredness.
