What kind of man is he? Why is Helen unhappy by his actions? How do her actions lead to the results of The Illiad. Paris’ role in the Trojan conflict was that he started it by taking Helen. He took Helen from Menelaos when him and Hektor were told by Priam to go make peace with the Greeks. While Hektor was talking and making peace with the Greeks, Paris snuck off and took Helen. He took Helen because when Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite were fight over who was the fairest out of all of them, they asked Paris and he said Aphrodite. Each of them offered him something in return if he picked them; Aphrodite offered him the most beautiful girl who happened to be Helen. When Helen was taken a plethora of men came out and were ready to fight to get her back because when he father was finding the perfect suitor for her, he made each man promise to protect her with their lives even if they were not chosen. Achilleus is a rash person who acts on impulse, but along with his impulse comes the care for those that mean the most to him. Achilleus does not really care about fighting; he only fights to have his name spoken for generations and a remembrance of him. When it comes to Achilleus and Agamemnon’s relationship, Achilleus would love to watch Agamemnon and his army get slaughtered by the Trojans rather than help them out. Though something always happens to make Achilleus side with Agamemnon, such as when Athena restrained Achilleus anger towards Agamemnon and told him to attack Agamemnon with words instead of fighting because that is what Hera wanted.
