Many people do this to their pets because veterinarians recommend it, but it can actually make their pets feel worse. This can have many effects on the animal, especially dogs. Vaccinosis is often linked with many sicknesses on animals or can even cause death. This is why people need to be more aware of the effects on their animals with over-vaccination. Many dogs are affected by vaccinosis because people are not aware when enough is enough. Veterinary doctor, Dr. Schultz, says that dogs only need to be vaccinated when their are puppies and that will be enough until they get older. Some effects of over-vaccination, according to Dogs Naturally Magazine are autoimmune disease and cancer. This shows how the effects can be deadly and very harmful. This is important because many people are not aware that vaccinating their pets often is causing more harm than good. The article also states, “Vaccinating annually is an extremely high-risk procedure … and it doesn’t make your dog any more “immune” from disease”(Dogs Naturally Magazine). This statement shows people that over-vaccination makes them more prone to diseases. It is important to consider that pets do have problems dealing with vaccinosis, that can have a gradual effect on an animal's life. The owner of Hemopet, Karen Stalk, also mentions that this often happens because of how most veterinary clinics tell the pet owner that the animal needs this vaccination when it really does not, (Karen Stalk, personal communications, March 24, 2017). This relates to animal care because pet owners should consider which vaccines that the animal needs in order for their pet to stay healthy.
