1. In “The Dangerous Spread of Commercialize Culture,” the author warms reader the dangerousness of the ubiquitous advising. The author offers reader a clear historical background of the raise of commercialism. Then the author gives examples of how advising has a negatively impact on health. Those advising even target on children. Local governments agree on the display of advising because they cannot resist the sizable revenue. Also, the commercialism also make people become materialistic. Materialistic lifestyle is negatively correlated to mental health. The commercialism is very dangerous. However, the government is failed to address those issues because corporations have a great control. Nevertheless, the author …show more content…
The childhood obesity partly is caused by the unhealthy food advising and the selling of junk food in schoolhouse. To prevent childhood obesity, the state can ban all the advising and selling of junk food. Just like in California, it has banned the sale of soda in school. This evidence is very strong. The author provides actual data about this evidence, so this evidence has a very good support. Also, the author suggests solution which has been done by other states. Another evidence, Ad creep and spam culture, the author also provides a good background of the transformation of spam. All of those examples the author uses in here are real. It is not just some observation or personal experience. Therefore, this evidence is also very strong.
In” Stuff is not Salvation,” the author uses personal observations as examples. Compare to “The Dangerous Spread of Commercialize Culture”, the strength is not very strong. I agree with both of the authors view of point. We are all used to culture of commercialism to the point that we neglect the potential harm of it. The commercialism is harmful to the children’s physical health, college student’s mental health and family relationship. However, most of the time, commercialism is appearing in the way you will not notice it. For example, on Instagram, the celebrities on Instagram are all sponsored by different companies. The luxury brands will send their latest clothing, handbag and other item to them. Some of the celebrities are even paid to wear those clothing or use those item. Those celebrities are our role model. Especially for college students, sense of loneliness drives us to follow those people. We want to be belong to a group and admit by others. Honestly, no one will satisfy after buying all those items. Because the corporation want people to feel bad and empty. A dress wore by a instagrammer may not look good on you. The instagrammer uses Photoshop to enhance his/her body figure and appearance. It is part of the tricks of commercialism and consumerism. Those corporations want you to purchase more to fulfill the emptiness. It just so hard to avoid. I am not expecting any changes on the commercialism. I assume the situation will only get worse. I remember from the cartoon “Futuremama,” people in the future are receiving advising in their dream. I believe if technology allow, it will be true because we don’t have privacy anymore. It
