3 Rules to abide by are:
1. Always Send a Thank You Note
2. Send it Fast
3. Make an Impact.

Writing a “Thank You” note after an interview is very important. It shows that you are truly interested in the position and working with the company, and it also makes you memorable in the interviewer’s eyes.

Most importantly…not sending a note could actually decrease your chances of getting the job. It’s been proven that as many as 25% of hiring managers say they wouldn’t hire someone who didn’t send a post interview thank you letter.

Let’s look at the value of a Thank You note:
• Impresses employers with your follow-through.
• Shows courtesy toward the interviewer.
• Shows your understanding of professional courtesy.
• Conveys your interest

• Demonstrates your skill at written (or emailed) communications.
• Allows you to clarify anything that you don't think you communicated well during the interview.
• Meets your competition so you don't lose an opportunity simply because your competitor sent a thank you.

Try to tailor the note as much as possible to the company and position you are interviewing for, being careful to demonstrate that you understand the challenges that they face.

You want to show the interviewer that you are a good fit for this position and can make a positive impact on their company. You comprehend the position and know that there may be difficulties that come with it, but you are comfortable and willing to take them on.

Do's:
A strong letter will address the issues of the interview. It should:
• Highlight what the employer liked about you.
• Cover positive information you wish you had said in the interview.
• Express your skill in areas that the employer showed concern over.
• Keep the message short - not more than one page and a couple of

I think when people tell you thank you for your help, they were the most rewarding experience. For example, I had a woman who did not know how to claim for a work accident because her manager told her that because she was undocumented, she did not have right to claim for anything. I told her that her employer was wrong and she can claim for Workers Compensation that it is an insurance that companies has to pay for their employees even they are undocumented. I read a pamphlet that the Labor Commission left to my organization. She told me, thank you so much for your help.…

For this assignment, I interviewed Felicia Low, a Program Advisor at the School of Public Health. This interview taught me a lot about myself and my interpersonal communication skills when it comes to communication on a one-on-one basis. Prior to the interview, I was a bit nervous since I did not know Mrs. Low personally and never communicated with her face-to-face. I prepared to conduct the interview in a way that it would feel like a normal conversation and not a regular interview. For example, I would not always say things from the interview questions that I prepared, I would sometimes ask a question on piece of information that she would share.…

I find it amusing that throughout my childhood, I was told to be humble. I was told that praising myself was vanity. That compliments are given, not taken. If I won a medal, rather than being pleased by a friend praising my skills, I was to make sure that they didn’t feel jealous or insecure by my success. I would say “Thank you!…

It does not matter if you live in the richest or poorest country in the world because your infant hood can change you mentally, physically (of course) but also financially. Here is my mother example: During the interview, I learned that my mom had good grades and memories at school. All she learned from her teachers made her mind clearer about her future.…

The words thank you are the words that pass through my lips more than anything else. Knowing that I cannot always repay the people who help me with whatever I am struggling with, I offer them thanks instead, and hope that they realize that if I had the time, or if the situation was better, I would gladly pay them back. Recently in the emergency room the radiologist technician commented on my use of thank you, and despite the amount of pain I was in, how I still went out of my way to say thank you. So, because of that situation, I say thank you as much as I can. For a peer handing me a paper, for a teacher returning work I submitted to them previously, or for a young woman giving my brothers and I food.…
