Death Penalty and Torture The death penalty is a punishment for a crime in which the punishment is death. You have to do something really serious to get the death penalty though. Most people who get the death penalty are murderers and people who commit treason. The death penalty has been around for pretty much as long as society and a justice system has existed. There are many methods of carrying out the death penalty because people have had so long to get new ideas. Nowadays it is pretty humane though.

There are many different views that people have on it. Some people think that it is really good because it gets rid of the worst people and does not give them a chance to commit any more crimes. A lot of people argue that the death penalty is the worst violation of human rights because it takes away the right to life which is the most important right that there is. There are a lot of different views and opinions about whether or not capital punishment should be allowed or not. People have viewed it differently throughout time as well. A long time ago they did not value life as much as we do now in our society and people could get executed for doing pretty much anything.
It is hard to determine whether or not the death penalty should be allowed because there are many reasons to support either side of the argument. Not all torture causes physical pain. Sometimes people like to use psychological torture because it can have the same effects and leaves no physical evidence that it happened. Other times they will use psychological and physical torture to get results faster. There is also a type of torture called pharmaceutical torture, which is when they use drugs and other things to cause hallucinations and other physiological problems within the person being tortured.
There are several methods of both physical and psychological torture Some examples of psychological torture are sleep deprivation, exploitation of fears, solitary confinement, and the Chinese water torture. Some examples of physical torture are bone breaking, tooth extraction, branding, boiling, cutting, dunking, and waterboarding. None of these examples of torture sound very fun at all. It makes it easy to understand why they can be so effective.

Most countries today do not use torture because it is so cruel. Most countries at least believe in basic human rights so they make it illegal to torture people. There are not many people in the world that actually deserve to be tortured. People are usually only tortured because they have something that the person torturing them
