Because the Silk Road was stretched over a long distance of many countries, it was a very dangerous stunt to make the entire journey. Other reasons why most merchants never travelled the entire route was because of the many different terrains that ruled the Silk Road. The main terrain was desert and mountains.
The desert was one of the most dangerous places on the Silk Road because of the weather and lethal animals.
