Judgment is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as: “the act or process of forming an opinion or making a decision after careful thought, the act of judging something or someone”. As Christians, we know that when we die we will stand before God in judgment. For a non-believer, the thought of being judged for their attitudes and actions and receiving punishment when they die may have never crossed their minds. While the word sin is the all inclusive reason for judgment, it may portray a negative attitude; conversely, there are certain positive rewards that come from judgment. Most tend to concentrate on the negative aspects of judgment in order to maintain self control as they follow along their path to God. The rewards that are received during judgment are often overlooked. Whether you choose to follow a negative or positive view on judgment, both need to be taken into consideration while accessing your life as a whole.
For some, judgment will be likened to “criminal trials in which charges are read and proved” (Judgment, week 8 online article). In essence, we are guilty of sin because; we are all sinful by nature due to the Fall of Adam, we have committed sin against God, and these sins have been recorded in the account of our life. However, Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” (ESV). For Christians, the hope that, Heaven is a real place will be reality if we follow the Word of God and claim Jesus as our Savior. For those who do not believe, the Christian hope of eternal life is non-existent. However, because mankind is made in the image of God, even non-believers can obtain that hope if they change their heart and follow Jesus Christ. It is unlikely that you meet someone who is content to live a hopeless life, thus it is hope, a gift from God that keeps us going when life seems unbearable. That hope in and of itself, should be enough to convince a non-believer that there is a supernatural presence with them that longs to have an intimate
