Both gangs judged each other just by their appearance and by where they lived. They knew nothing about what was going on in each others lives or even considered the other one felt. However at the beginning of the story, 2 girl Socs listened to a few greasers and realized they’re not at all what they thought. “Cherry sighed. “You two are too sweet to scare anyone.” (Hinton, pg 26). It’s so sad to see us all assume things about other people, without really getting to know them. Sometimes they are deceiving and not what you expected for the worse or the better. If the Socs and “The Greasers” tried to compromise and get along, despite their differences, they could’ve formed a great alliance. In the end of the story, the Socs were nice to Ponyboy. They never noticed the greasers did have sympathy and courage in their hearts for others. If they only would have known that about them sooner, things would have been so much easier and more peaceful. Not everyone finds satisfaction in the same things, but we were all given the same heart. We need to humble ourselves and see only the good in the people around us. Out the 7 billion people on this Earth, there’s a great chance you’re shutting some of the nicest people out.
