Some of the most highly valued diamond mines are in Africa and South America, these same mines are also producing some of the most harsh and cruel working facilities. In 2000 the Kimberly process was created to help mange things of such sort. But since then things have only gotten worse, over 3.4 million people have died from mining. They understand what those in Africa and South America go through and believe such things shouldn’t be supported if there isn’t going to be a stand against what is going on. It is the strongest stone known to man and shouldn’t be used as a symbol of love if the ones mining it will never see the finished product or know the value of their work. South Africa and South America are one of the most highly industrialized and wealthiest placed because of diamond mining, but the wealth is hindered because of the slave labor in the mines.
