Childhood Cancer does not get as enough foundings as it should. One thing is true more adults get cancer. That its why government and foundations fund more research for adult cancer. If people look at it closer there would be a different reaction. The average age for cancer diagnosis is sixty-seven. The average years lost to cancer is fifteen. In the other hand the average age for cancer diagnosis in children is six. The average years lost is seventy one. Only four percent of the federal United States founding is dedicated to childhood cancer. About sixty percent of all funding for drug development in adult cancer come from pharmaceutical companies. How much percentage of funding for childhood cancer comes from pharmaceutical companies? None because childhood cancer drugs are not profitable. Four percent of the National Cancer Institute annual budget is dedicated to childhood cancer. The result of all this is children dying daily waiting for promising new treatments that lack funding. Parents have no choice but to raise money themselves by holding bake sales, car washes and other fundraisers. There is a lot of organizations that help kids, Another way is spreading the real reason why cancer occurs. Every October all there is is pink ribbons, but there is nor many golf ribbons in September. Jay Scott the founder of Alex’s Lemonade Stand said “People don 't understand that children also get cancer, and it affects researchers and ultimately the families going through it” The hard reality is that there is a lot of childrens fighting cancer and people are not doing enough.
