In July of 2007, a man’s livelihood and freedom hung in the balance. Atlanta Falcons star quarterback Michael Vick was on trial for charges of illegal dogfighting, accused of abhorrent abuse and slaughter of dogs in the brutal blood sport. To public satisfaction, the promising first round overall draft pick was sentenced to 21 months in a federal prison with two months of house arrest. With justice served, it brings the question, how influential and lucrative is the underground dog fighting scene so that a 37 million dollar annual salary celebrity would risk incarceration?

If you see evidence of a fight, such as many pit bulls gathering in an area, pit bulls on heavy chains, rectangular areas between 14 and 20 square feet commonly made of plywood, or even a fight in progress, please report to the police immediately.
